美國電影學會（American Film Institute，簡稱AFI）成立於1967年，是美國國家藝術基金會創建的獨立運作的非營利組織。
1973年，美國電影學會設立AFI終身成就獎。
1987年，美國電影學會組織了第一屆AFI電影節，之後每年舉行一次。
1998年，為了紀念美國電影誕生百年，美國電影學會頒布了百年系列。
